“NU has everything to offer freshers immense possibilities to grow personally and professionally. While participating in club and sports activities led to my holistic growth, a big part of my entrepreneurial journey also began on campus where we had the independence to organize various events,” recalls Rama Krishna Panda, who is the Co-Founder of Meet My Coach. The B Tech (ECE) Class of 2019 student reveals how NU helped him discover his interest in Digital Marketing, and created platforms to launch a successful career in a short span of time..
Rama clearly remembers the day he stepped onto the campus for the very first time with other aspirants hopeful of a bright and successful future. According to him, NU is the place that focuses not only on academic excellence but holistic growth of students as well. “I remember participating in activities of
various clubs like Social Media Club, Debate Club and
IngeNUity and
TALF . It went on to trigger my interest in Business Administration and Marketing to opt for a career in the field,” he says.
An avid sportsperson, Rama also reveled in the opportunities to participate in inter-college and intra-college events. Looking back he feels the sports events helped him tap into his leadership qualities. “As someone who had a keen interest in Marketing, I loved studying non-tech subjects like economics, language, and management, which helped my growth into the career I chose for myself. I strongly believe the seeds for my entrepreneurial journey were also sown on campus through organizing, and management of various events,” he adds.
During the course of his programme, Rama did several internships in Digital Marketing to pursue his interest and get hands-on experience. He is particularly grateful to AIESEC (Club), which helped him secure an internship in Thailand for 7 weeks. “Through the internship experience, I knew that I wanted to start my career in Digital Marketing. I am thankful to the placement committee who guided and inspired me to choose my
Industry Practice (IP) with Cuemath. It happened to be the perfect stepping stone for my career,” he states.
It is interesting to note that Rama was also shortlisted for a role with ICICI Prudential during the placement season. But he had his eyes set on building a career path that would lead to his entrepreneurial foray. “At Cuemath I learned about the whole supply and demand side of the business cycle. It developed my analytical ability and soft skills. I achieved 130% of my target in both quarters as an intern,” he says proudly. After completing the IP he worked with the company as Partner Success Manager, and consistently grew in position and experience.
Another successful stint starting as Head of Sales with Turito followed. But Rama was keen on starting his own venture to put his learnings into practice. He joined hands with his co-founder, Mr.Anirban Sarkar and launched Meet My Coach, which has enrolled 300+ students in four months. “We are on journey to raise funds. Parallelly I am consulting with organizations as a consultant helping them with GTM strategy and visibility. I am extremely humbled and proud to be doing this at a young age, and none of it would have been possible without the exposure I got at NU,” he concludes.
