NIIT University graduate Vivek Kamma bags two plum placements but opts for his Master's in the US
“I remember the day I accepted my admission to BTech CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) programme at NIIT University (NU). At the time, like all students, I was unsure if I was making the right choice. But today I can say that it was the best decision I could have taken for my career,” says Class of 2021 student Vivek Kamma effusively. From that moment of trepidation to being offered not one but two top industry placements and choosing further studies at Texas State University, US he has come a long way. Here’s the story of his stunning transformation.
During his stint at NU, Vivek had the opportunity of working on projects, which are integral to the curriculum in each semester. He also gained crucial practical exposure through his internships and role as a Student Mentor to build his repertoire. “Working on those projects helped me gain a plethora of skills along with exposure to the latest technologies. The continuous efforts of the Centre for Industry Collaboration guided and helped me through the application process for industry practice and placement interviews on campus,” he adds effusively.
It was through these efforts that Vivek bagged Industry Practice placement with a top name like Ernst & Young as Technology Consultant. He impressed the company with his skills, which resulted in a pre-placement offer. “I had also received a placement offer with Quantiphi Analytics. But I have chosen to do my Master’s in Computer Science at Texas State University. I am also working as a Graduate Research Assistant. NU built a strong platform for me, which made me confident enough to take this decision,” he says.
Moving away from exciting placement offers and choosing to pursue higher studies abroad is not an easy decision for any fresher. But Vivek believes in his training at NU and is willing to take these chances to achieve his career dreams. “I have not just received top-notch education at the university but I have also carried a lifetime of memories with me. I am sad that I couldn’t spend my last semester on campus, but I have made friends, who will be with me just like my training for the rest of my life,” he concludes filled with emotion and clarity for the future.
