12th Annual Kite Flying Festival at NU

Date: 18 January 2025

Time: 11:00 am onwards

Venue: The Bowl

The 12th Annual Kite Flying Festival, a tradition at NU, was celebrated on the morning of the 18th and coincided with Raat Mahotsav, another annual NU tradition. Several teams consisting of NUtons, NUrturers and their families assembled in the Bowl and adjacent lawns. The aim was to last the longest by getting other kites down. The longest lasting group received the honour of being recognized as – ‘LAST GROUP STANDING’.

The kites were distributed beforehand to the registered teams by Prof. Deepak Khanna from the Management Area. The event saw the blue sky colored with waving kites and was managed by Mr Prashant Nayak while Himanshu Rathi and Manoj of the Environment and Sustainability ensured that everyone cleaned up the mess after them.

The annual kite flying event was a vibrant celebration filled with excitement and camaraderie. Thirty teams with creative names like Wind Warriors, Cloud Commanders, and Hawa Hawai participated, showcasing their spirit and creativity. The sky came alive with colorful kites, and the atmosphere buzzed with joy and laughter. The competition was intense yet friendly, with teams like Sky Surfers and Kite Krushers demonstrating remarkable skill. Highlights included the performances of The Finisher and Hawa ke Sikandar, while Fabulous Faculty and Super Staffers brought a playful touch. The participation of Raath Mahotsav Guests added a festive charm. More than just a competition, the event fostered unity and community spirit, leaving participants with cherished memories and a sense of connection. As the day ended, it was clear that the kite flying event was a true celebration of togetherness and joy.
