NU hosts 13th annual lecture - KV Kamath speaks on ‘Digital India, Digital Currencies and Economic Growth’
The year 2009 marked a significant event with the notification of NIIT University (NU) by the Government of Rajasthan. This historic event was celebrated on 15 November 2009 when Dr Karan Singh, Chairperson, NU, delivered the ‘First Lecture’ at the University campus in Neemrana.
The Annual Lecture has since become a tradition at NU.
Mr KV Kamath, Former President, New Development Bank, delivered the ‘Thirteenth Lecture’ on Saturday, 20 November 2021 virtually. The topic for the lecture was ‘Digital India, Digital Currencies and Economic Growth.’ The programme began at 11:00am.

About Mr KV Kamath
Mr Kamath is the former President of the New Development Bank set up by the BRICS countries. He led the bank from its founding in 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, he was Chairman of ICICI Bank and Infosys Limited, two of India’s leading companies. After completing his engineering studies, Mr Kamath graduated from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), in 1971 and started his career with ICICI in project finance. He then set up several of ICICI’s new businesses while handling general management positions. In 1988, Mr Kamath joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila. Mr Kamath returned to India in May 1996 to take over as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at ICICI, which later merged with ICICI Bank. Mr Kamath was conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours in 2008. He has received widespread recognition internationally and in India, including being named CNBC’s Asian Business Leader in 2001, and Businessman of the Year by Forbes Asia and Business Leader of the Year by The Economic Times, India, in 2007. Mr Kamath has been President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the country’s apex industry association, and a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
