NU celebrates the spirit of its green crusader – late Air Cmde Kamal Singh

Celebrations were held at NU to honour the memory of its beloved Late Air Cmde Kamal Singh, Advisor – Campus Infrastructure and Green Initiatives, on March 24 2025, his 74th birthday.

Tree saplings were planted by Air Cmde Kamal Singh’s wife, Mrs Rita Singh and their grandchildren. NU faculty, students, staff, leadership and administrators participated in the event with great enthusiasm.

NU alumni have donated almost 1000 saplings for planting and most of them have requested for their saplings to be named after ‘Kamal’. In Kamal Singh’s honour, the area of plantation on the slopes of Aravalli Hills (Kali Pahadi), was named – KAMAL VAN.

The event continued on March 26 2025, with more students and alumni joining in to populate Kamal Van’s slopes with saplings to cherish the memory of Air Cmde Kamal Singh who had worked tirelessly for greening the NU campus and had given innumerable inspiring talks and conducted countless campus walks to sensitize everyone to the issue of sustainability, an issue so close to his heart.
