Mr. Francesco Violante, CEO of SITA visits NIIT University
On October 13, 2014, Mr. Francesco Violante, CEO of SITA, the world’s leading specialist in air transport communications and information technology (IT), visited NIIT University. Under the leadership of Mr. Francesco Violante, SITA has undergone a dramatic transformation with the merging of previously separate entities into a single company, delivering complex IT solutions to the world’s air transport industry and has become the business role model for the aviation and communication industry.
During his visit, Mr. Violanteinteracted with the leadership teams, faculties and students of the University and shared his thoughts in an ‘Invited Speech Session’ at the NU Auditorium.
At the onset, Mr. Violante appreciated and congratulated Mr. Pawar, the founder of the NIIT University, and his team on the unique concept of ‘seamless’ as one of the core principles that the University is built on. He expressed his atonement with Indian culture and connected immediately with the entire audience.He initiated his lecture by elaborating on the global dimension of SITA. He highlighted the successful business model of SITA through integration of common strategy and introducing market specific local diversity. He infused the fact that every business, in order to flourish must diversify the local market to cater specific market demands.
Mr. Violante then, moved to express the importance of innovation in human life. Innovation, as he explained, is a thought process, a unique vision and mission for an individual that differentiates him from the world. Emphasizing the necessity to make mistakes in life he said, “If you do not make mistakes, you will not innovate. Innovation is a fundamental aspect – if you do not do something different, you will die”
Mr. Violante’s final aspect in his speech laid importanceto the concept and idea of Social Impact. Drawing example from SITA, he stated that: “My real goal is to make sure that I can impact the passengers.” He inspired the audience to contemplate about the social impact of their own job. He concluded by saying: “Always feel – think about it – our own job should have a positive social impact, if you do that, you can be sure that you are on the right path”. The highly motivating and inspiring speech was followed by a Q & A session and a great applause for the speaker.
