NIIT University Celebrates Fifth Annual Lecture and Third Convocation Ceremony
NIIT University (NU), a model of excellence in higher education, recently hosted its Fifth Annual Lecture and Third Convocation Ceremony on 16th November 2013 at the NIIT University campus, Neemrana, Rajasthan. On this significant day renowned academicians, industry leaders, parents and students converged at NU to grace the occasion.
On this occasion, Dr. Karan Singh, Chairperson, NIIT University & Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman & Managing Director of Biocon Ltd were the distinguished guests. Mr. Rajendra Pawar, Padma Bhushan, Founder of NIIT University, Mr. Vijay Thadani, CEO, NIIT Ltd. and Co-founder of NIIT University and Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pandey, President, NIIT University were other notable people present to honor the guests. Distinguished luminaries, guests and parents joined to celebrate the event and it was a privileged moment to hear the progressive thoughts by the invited dignitaries. Dr. Karan Singh mesmerized the atmosphere with his presence. He delivered astounding verses and enhanced the aura of the place.
Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw delivered the inspiring Convocation Address on the topic of “You can be the Difference”. With reminisces of her college days, and instances of her early days with Biocon, she emphasized the need of perseverance and dedication towards “making a difference” in the society. Dr. Mazumdar explained the principle of her life: “Science as curiosity driven learning’’ and how this is imbibed into her DNA and gets reflected in all aspects of her professional life and into the very core-principle of Biocon. As a powerful woman to day, she talked on the sensitive issue of gender bias in today’s society and appealed to all men to treat woman with respect and dignity. Congratulating the success of the graduating students, Dr. Mazumdar paid reverence the responsibilities of teachers who acted as mentors to the students, shaping and guiding them in every way. Her words of wisdom were strong and compelling. “Always try to change things for the better. Do not compromise on honesty, transparency, or, candor…. and above all, never fear failure. Failure makes a great stepping stone to rise to higher challenges’’
Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pandey, President NIIT University, a renowned academician, a scientist and an academic writer of repute, awarded degree certificates of MBA and Btech to 86 graduating students of the University. In his speech, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pandey congratulated the graduates and the entire NIIT University family, highlighted the key academic developments and full accomplishments of the University, emphasizing the individual endeavors, appreciating the collaborative success and expressing the idea of holistic development of all at NU. Happily sharing the fact that NIIT University students achieved 100% placement, Dr. Pandey shared glimpses of the high international linkage of the University with international universities and organizations with terms of Memorandum of Understanding, joint research, internship opportunities and adjunct faculties. The acclamations of students in various areas were applauded and so were the research funding from various leading agencies as ITRA, DST, DBT and many more. The establishments of various new initiatives like Educational technology Innovation Centre and Microsoft Innovation Labs were highlighted. Dr. Pandey in his vote of thanks said: “The success story of NIIT University is actually the outcome of all our leaders, well-wishers, students, faculty members and staff of the University”
The beautiful, auspicious and significant day was made complete with project presentations by the students, photography display and sumptuous lunch, all soaked in the flavors and hues of traditional Rajasthani customs and essence.
