NIIT University hosted a SPIC-MACAY event on August 20th 2024. The popular play – Raj-Rakt – based on Tagore’s Visarjan and Rajarshi, was presented by Naya Theatre in the Auditorium.

The play highlights the tussle between established religious practices and humane consciousness. It revolves around an incident when a king, Govind Manikya, issues a royal decree to ban all animal sacrifices on seeing the trauma experienced by a young boy witnessing the ritual of a goat being sacrificed to please the goddess. The priest, Raghupati, does his best to break the royal decree. The priest’s adopted son, Jai Singh, is caught in a dilemma between his loyalty to his guru and the goddess and his respect for the king.
