Dr Shazia Rashid is an accomplished educator, researcher, and entrepreneur with a profound dedication to the field of biotechnology and biomedical sciences. She has more than 15 years of experience of teaching and research at higher education industry. She has worked as an academician at Amity Institute of Biotechnology, and Amity Institute of Molecular Medicine & Stem Cells (AIMMSCR), Amity University (AUUP) and has been actively engaged in teaching and research. Her research area of interest is cancer biology and drug discovery with an emphasis on women-associated cancers including HPV-induced cervical cancer and breast cancer.
Dr Shazia has a Bachelor’s (Hons.) degree in Biotechnology from Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut and Masters in Biotechnology from Amity University and where she was awarded Gold Medal in Academic Excellence. She received fully-funded Vice Chancellor’s Research Studentship (VCRS) from Ulster University, U.K. for pursuing Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Her doctoral research was focussed on investigating the effects of a novel white-rot basidiomycete in cancer for developing potential anti-tumor therapies. She worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Ulster University, U.K. where she explored the role of glutathione esters for nutraceutical applications. She later joined University of Oxford, U.K. where her research focussed on improving treatment modalities for ovarian and breast cancers.
Dr Shazia’s passion for imparting knowledge is reflected in her extensive teaching experience. She has adeptly delivered wide-variety of courses like cancer biology, cell biology, animal biotechnology, bioanalytical techniques & instrumentation, basic biotechnology and precision Medicine to UG, PG, and PhD students. As a researcher, she has made substantial contributions to the study of women-associated cancers, particularly HPV-induced cervical cancer and breast cancer. She has published more than 30 research papers and review articles, and 2 books with international publishers. Her work, supported by substantial grants from funding agencies, has been published in esteemed international journals like Seminars in Cancer Biology, PLoS One, Gene etc. Dr Shazia’s leadership extends to administrative roles, where she has mentored students, overseen international collaborations, and participated in key institutional committees. She is also the Founder of Prep2Excel, an organization that aims to promote excellence through innovative education, skill development, and quality training services.
